The Royal Armed Forces of Oman (RAF Oman) comprise the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), and the Sultan's Special Force (SSF). Oman maintains a strategically significant military posture at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints — with a predominantly UK-origin inventory supplemented by US and French platforms. SORC provides procurement advisory, NSN parts sourcing, and export licensing support for Oman's mixed Western fleet, including ITAR-controlled F-16 components and UK SIEL-governed Typhoon and Challenger 2 spares.

Strait of Hormuz
Oman controls the southern shore of the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 20% of global oil supply transits daily. The RNO's corvette and patrol fleet is tasked with maritime security and chokepoint monitoring, making Oman a critical partner for regional maritime stability operations.
UK Defence Partnership
Oman maintains one of the UK's most enduring bilateral defence relationships, with British officers historically embedded at senior levels of the RAF Oman. The UK-Oman Defence Cooperation Agreement underpins procurement of Typhoon, Challenger 2, Khareef-class corvettes, and ongoing training programmes.
US FMS Relationship
The F-16 Block 50/52 acquisition marks a significant expansion of Oman's US Foreign Military Sales relationship. ITAR controls apply to all F-16 components, avionics, and associated munitions, requiring DDTC licence review for any third-party brokerage or parts supply.
Gulf Cooperation Council
As a GCC member, Oman participates in collective defence arrangements while maintaining a notably independent foreign policy — including diplomatic relations with Iran. This dual posture creates unique procurement compliance considerations for SORC when managing dual-use technology transfers.
SORC provides the Royal Armed Forces of Oman with NATO Stock Number (NSN) parts sourcing across all three service branches, export licensing support under UK SIEL/OIEL frameworks for Typhoon and Challenger 2 spares, and US FMS/DCS advisory for ITAR-controlled F-16 components. All transactions are conducted in full compliance with UK ECJU, US State Department DDTC, and applicable GCC sanctions requirements.
